Weight Loss Is Easier Than Keeping It Off But These Tips Will Help Maintain Your Ideal Weight

Tuesday, May 10, 2011

To burn fat and lose weight you can reach for any number of products or join one of the many programs offered on-line and off. Most work well to lose weight but weight loss is only part of the puzzle. Effective weight maintenance is truly the Holy Grail of dieting and the best way to maintain your ideal weight is by developing the healthy habits that promote a healthy weight.

For a lot of us, inherited habits in the way we choose and prepare our foods are one of the biggest stumbling blocks to weight loss and contribute to regaining the weight back that we struggled to lose.

Meat Loaf

Here are other tips to consider when evaluating your habits:

Use pan sprays regularly. Spray the pan when it is cold, then place over the flame. You can reduce fat considerably by taking this first step. Once the pan is hot, you can add a small amount of healthy olive oil for flavor. Replace refined starches with whole grain: Try brown rice, whole-wheat pasta, whole-wheat bread and crackers, whole-wheat couscous, and oatmeal instead of cream of wheat. You can buy quick-cooking brown rice that can be ready in 15 minutes. Add diced vegetables to soups, chili, meat loaf, casseroles, tuna or chicken salad and pasta sauce to reduce overall calories and boost nutrition. We regularly blend vegetables and include in our dishes and our kids are none the wiser. Season steamed vegetables with lemon, vinegar, herbs, garlic, onion and spices rather than relying on butter or sauces. I often reduce a bullion cube and sauté my vegetables in a large saucepan. Add fruits to salad for a change. Try fresh orange or tangerine sections, raisins, apples (I like diced Granny Smith-with the skin on) or kiwi. Use deep green leafy vegetables, instead of iceberg lettuce, for more nutrition. Frozen vegetables and fruits are just as nutritious and fresh, may be less expensive, and allow you to eat foods that might not be in season any time of the year. For example, loose-leaf frozen spinach or chopped vegetables can easily be added to soups and stews. Take advantage of the healthy convenience items such as pre-washed salad greens, pre-cut fruit and baby carrots. They may cost more, but if you keep buying fruits and vegetables and throwing them away because you don't take time to prepare them, it may be less expensive in the long run. When my kids were young they would not pull fruit out of the fridge or even peel an orange, but if we prepped it and set it out it wouldn't last 15 minutes. If your market has a salad bar, you can buy pre-washed, precut vegetables like broccoli, mushrooms, cauliflower and carrots, which you can take home and steam or stir-fry. Visit a local farmer's market. The produce is usually much fresher than what you find in the supermarkets, which means vegetables won't wilt as quickly and the foods keep their nutritional value. You can find new varieties of fruits and vegetables to try, and you will be eating foods that are in season. You can thicken soups without added butter, flour or cream. Place some of the broth and vegetables in the blender and then stir back into the soup. Or, make your own "cream" soups by cooking vegetables with broth, onions, garlic and seasoning-then purée it all in the blender with a little evaporated non-fat milk or soft tofu for a delicious creamy soup. Try different mustards and vinegars for seasoning salads and vegetables without fat. Double the recipe for dishes that freeze well, such as soups, stews, and casseroles. That way, when you're tired and don't want to cook, you can pull something healthy from the freezer rather than pulling into the drive-through. You've heard it many times, but don't shop when you are hungry. It's too tempting to pick up the wrong foods. Make a list and stick to it, for the most part, but be flexible. Supermarkets are carefully laid out to tempt you-so don't get tempted by the candy at the checkout. Also, studies show that people who buy large containers of foods tend to serve themselves more from those containers, so try to keep portion sizes consistent if you buy economy-sized packages.

The best place to start if you want to set up a wellness or weight loss program is a and body composition analysis so you learn critical numbers that will give you the information to make your program work for you.

Egg Whites and Veggies For Dinner? Lose Weight by Cutting Calories With Filling and Satisfying Meals

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

Did you know that our bodies are genetically prone to store excess fat?
Science suggests that this tendency is rooted back to our ancestors who faced a real threat of starvation. Human bodies developed survival mechanisms to store and protect fat to so we would have adequate fuel during a calorie shortage. Obviously, our ancestors did not have the convenience of supermarkets and restaurants that we have today. Our bodies have been programmed to see weight loss as a sign of imminent starvation.

So how are we supposed to burn fat and lose the weight?
It ought to be simple, but when you cut too many calories to lose weight your body senses starvation and will adjust the metabolism to fight this threat. Science and research are proving a far more effective method of losing weight is to "fool" your body by refuel it frequently with small healthy portioned meals that are rich in fiber, nutrients, and protein to build lean muscle mass.

Meat Loaf

How can we make effective dietary adjustments to "fool" our body?
Replace foods high in sugar and carbohydrates with foods rich in fiber, protein and nutrients. This will enable you to feel fuller on less. You can add extra Vitamin C by adding bell peppers, bok choy, cabbage (red or green), cauliflower or broccoli to your diet. By adding any of these veggies to your meal, you boost your immune system and help out your cardiovascular system as well as adrenal functions!

The key is to find ways to fool your body into being well fueled and satisfied but still reducing the calories you take in. One trick that has been adopted by athletes, body builders, and successful dieters is to substitute whole eggs for egg whites. This is one healthy way of cutting calories and still providing a healthy amount of lean protein to provide the energy your body needs to function properly. Here are some of our most satisfying recipes made lighter using egg whites:

Mighty Miso Chicken with Brown Rice

WHAT YOU NEED:
2 tablespoons miso (soybean paste)
1 1/2 tablespoons fresh ginger, minced and peeled
2 cloves garlic, minced
4 (4-ounce) chicken breast halves, skinless and boneless
cooking spray
3/4 cup Eggology egg whites
1 cup onion, finely chopped
1 cup carrot, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon fish sauce
2 1/2 cups cooked brown rice
1 cup (about 3 ounces) shiitake mushroom caps, diced
1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
1 1/2 cups chopped spinach

2. Wrap each breast half securely in plastic wrap. Arrange the packets in steamer rack; place rack in a Dutch oven.

3. Steam packets, covered, 20 minutes or until done. Remove packets from steamer; let stand 5 minutes. Remove chicken from packets, reserving liquid from packets. Dice chicken; set aside. Discard water in pan; wipe pan dry with a paper towel.

4. Place a large nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray over medium-high heat until hot. Add Eggology egg whites, and cook 2 minutes or until done. Remove egg whites from skillet; coarsely chop.

5. Add reserved cooking liquid, chicken, onion, carrot, and fish sauce to Dutch oven, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium; cook 5 minutes or until liquid almost evaporates. Add rice, mushrooms, parsley, green onions, and soy sauce; cook 3 minutes. Stir in egg whites and spinach.

Do Weight Watcher's Meals Really Help You Lose Weight?

Friday, November 26, 2010

Weight Watchers meals are all over the internet! Just one search and you'll get almost everything that you need from cookies, frozen meals to recipes and cookbooks. It could be a frantic search for a person does Weight Watchers but do they really work? Let us take a look at these meals closely.

Cooks.com caters resources for different recipes of Weight Watchers meals. It's indeed delectable to find pies, meat loaf, cookies, snickers and brownies on this site. Most of the steps are easy to follow and the ingredients are too easy to purchase. However, if you're going to browse each of them to look closely at the ingredients especially those of the Weight Watchers, some are actually surprisingly of high Glycemic Index (GI) like Grapenuts. They're actually carbohydrates that generate high fluctuations in our insulin levels and blood glucose. Thereby, it gives higher risks for heart disease and diabetes. It's not just an issue of whether these Weight Watchers meals work, after then it becomes more on the issue of health.

Another example's the Weight Watchers cookies. It contains brown sugar and carob chips. According to Calorie King, the plain carob contains 5 cal per gram or 153 cal per ounce. It also contains 8.9 grams of fat for every ounce and nearly 15 grams of sugar. Carob they say, have more sugar than chocolate. Natural brown sugar on the other hand contains 11 calories per 4 grams or 1 teaspoon. Compared to white sugar, brown sugar may be considered healthier but with 11 calories per 4 grams, this ingredient's not to be considered a good meal for a person who wants to avoid diabetes. It's indeed interesting how Weight Watchers meals try to substitute the most favored delicacies like chocolate. However, while looking closely at their substitutes it seems unbelievably convincing that they are healthy. Just consider the 8.9 grams of fats from carob chips - how's that for a diet food?

Weight Watchers meals are always accompanied by calculators and nutrient database. Even USDA knows that such nutrient databases is standard but are simply close estimates of the specific values. It's relative to the estimates of ones walk going to their neighbor's house. Apparently, mathematics and physics could always defend that good solutions come from estimated variables, but that's if all the other factors have specific values. In the Weight Watchers meals, all the computed fats, calories and sugar are simply estimates and from these estimated values are Weight Watchers meal references. Thus, it doesn't sound substantial. From estimates you beget estimates and they consider them good bases for their meals. Isn't that stupendous?

If one's to consider of its viability to be 100% healthy, chances are it isn't. While, if one is to consider if they give you the exact amount of fats, calories and sugar for every meal, the situation is improbable. Since, the question has been answered, try switching course. The "11 pounds for 9 days" is a good offer from Fat Loss for Idiots.

Weight loss without exercise

Sunday, August 29, 2010

Image : http://www.flickr.com

We all had a hard time with weight loss. It's something most of us have the battle, but with a little help and determination, we can beat the battle of the Ardennes. I've been where you've been through ups and downs just to get more sophisticated. I hope that this article, I can prove that this is not all jogging on the treadmill or walk for miles. You can use simple measures to control or reduce weight.

1) breakfast. IKnow that sounds like common sense, but you know the word ... "Common sense sometimes is not so common." For the life of me I never understood why I eat as much, so late. I would have dinner, then I am filled with more food than the night. I remember at school, and raid the vending machine is at midnight for cookies and chips. Feed my face with anything and everything that I could get my hands on. At the same time, I have not eaten my firstLunch at noon. I never both. If you think logically, he fasted for 12 hours. Therefore, my binge eating at night. From midnight until noon, I eat. Think a bit '. Have you ever skipped lunch and dinner? I'm sure you have. Think about how hungry they were? I'm sure do. Now, we consider that every day, not eating for 12 hours on a regular basis. Once I started, I stopped eating after breakfast to late nightbinges. Sometimes I eat late at night, but not a lot I used to be.

2) stop eating so often. I can guarantee that you will see a difference not only in your weight, but also in your wallet. How many of you know that the nutritional value in a cup of coffee? How about french fries in a fry? How fat is that the breakfast sandwich? Most of us do not know and I would suggest that we do not know. Many of the foods we eat, when weThey are fried in butter, baked or fried in oil with tons of sugar. Even if it tastes good, keeps us coming back and keeps the weight will come.

If we prepare our meals, we can see what is in them. Instead of frying oil in which we as an aerosol cooking fat substitution, or instead of tons of salt and spices used are still trying. For our meal, we give our body what it needs less of what he wants. If you work all day, take amight pay a little 'time to eve meal backpack very different. Not only on your health, your finances, as well. You can add up to this, say you are fast food for breakfast and lunch 3 days a week. I guess $ 3.50 for breakfast and $ 6.00 for lunch, which is now conservative, now we all know that could be much higher. This is three times and 3 times $ 3.50 = 6,00 $ 28.50. Let's see what grocery bill, for example, some fruits like bananas and muesli barsThis would be carrots are about $ 5.00 loaf of bread and a package of turkey sandwich meat and a few sticks for lunch would be around $ 9.00. This food would last once a week for breakfast and lunch would be much healthier and would be half the cost, what you eat can not for the calories and fat of a mention. Now do the math for your situation. We live in a great country, everything is more convenient for us to grow, even in weight. UsFood delivered to us, we can order in a restaurant and do without our cars, but if you have a little extra effort and time you can take with me to a healthier and lighter.

3) make a better choice if you eat. I know what it means when we are engaged, sometimes do not have the kind of weather we want to prepare something. I know the feeling. So what I propose is to take a better choice. In pursuing the fast food industry left and rightGuide to weight gain and many other disorders that are associated with obesity are many places that offer healthy alternatives. I love places like this. Instead of a hamburger, you can get a grilled chicken sandwich, potato chips instead of chips take low-fat or baked instead of a drink, you can get juice or water instead of a page with a high content of vegetable go, we can choose to steam. A reasonable approach, we can do better, healthier choices when eating.

4) StartEat more often, do not wait too hungry. What? Want to eat more meals! I thought this article was to lose weight. Yes, it is. If you like the average person, I bet I probably eat 2-3 large meals per day. And I mean LARGE. Many people speaking I hit the drive-through soon how to work. It's so easy and convenient. You can get a coffee, breakfast sandwiches and a side for a few dollars. All this adds to the excess fat, sugar andCalories. We all know where this course. I ask you to begin eating 5-6 small meals. As I mentioned, preferably, these meals, you can create. natural reaction of the body, if not always achieve something in "memory." If you eat two big meals a day will do its best to digest so quickly the other side, if you eat small meals your body will "burn mode. Our metabolic rate and therefore ourAbility to lose weight. You will find that not always this feeling of hunger worse than you are accustomed. If you're hungry you tend to overeat. Try going to the supermarket when you're hungry and all things that leave you with Goofy at the end. Eating smaller meals every few hours offset the tendency to abuse our bodies when we sit down to eat.

5) Drink plenty of water. Every time I go to a restaurant, I always have water instead of soda or alcohol. And 'good for me andkeeps me hydrated, has other advantages. If you do not regularly drink water to save our own bodies. We often bear the weight of the water around our body. When we drink water more regularly, as our body, the weight of excess water, you know Because of constant influx of being there.

6) Reduce alcohol consumption. It 'pretty obvious. Alcohol like beer too many empty calories. There is also a diuretic, for us, often leads to the bathroom. This can not only be boring, but it can lead to dry. Have you ever been dehydrated before knowing the pleasure that accompanies nausea, cramps, diarrhea. That alone would cut me. The decrease in alcohol is also a great impact on your health, wallet and life.

Hope this helped. Good luck!
