Recipes for a Really Old-Fashioned Meal; Tamale Loaf and Onion Soup Deviled Eggs

Sunday, May 1, 2011

I love old recipes as those of you who follow my articles know.  I often encourage readers to prepare an old fashion meal then have a "sit-down" dinner with their families.  I have a collection of approximately 100 cookbooks and other recipes, most of them old, that I enjoy sharing.  From the emails and comments I receive, it is obvious many of these recipes bring back pleasant memories to many of you, too.  Some "old fashion" recipes and ideas are too good to let slip away completely.  Here are some recipes I recommend for those who want to take a step back in time.  Tamale Loaf and Onion Soup Deviled Eggs are both recipes over fifty years old.

VEGGIE STUFFED MEATLOAF
I'm not even sure where I got this old recipe but it was probably from one of the old women's magazines. My mother used to get all of them and we gathered recipes from them when I was a kid. I only like meat when it is combined with other things or "hidden" so she knew I would eat this.

Meat Loaf

STUFFING FOR MEATLOAF

1 can (16-oz) mixed vegetables, drained
1 egg
2 tbsp dry bread crumbs tossed with some garlic and onion powders

Meatloaf Mixture

1 1/2 lbs quality ground beef
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 cup catsup
1/4 cup quick oats
1/4 cup dry bread crumbs, seasoned with garlic and onion powders
1 egg
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp seasoned salt
1/2 tsp garlic powder

In a large mixing bowl combine all of the meatloaf mixture ingredients together using clean hands to mix well. Mixing well is very important. Divide the mixture in half and spread one of the halves into the bottom of a loaf pan. Set other half aside.

Make the veggie stuffing by combining the drained vegetables with the egg and bread crumbs. Spread over the meatloaf mixture in the loaf pan. Place the reserved half of the meatloaf mixture over the vegetable stuffing mixture and smooth out to form a loaf. Spread the top with some catsup, if desired. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes at 375degrees until done. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before serving.

Enjoy!

Are There Really 100 Positions in Love Making?

Tuesday, March 1, 2011

Making love poems when expressed with the deepest of emotions are sure to make your sweetheart feel like the most adorable person in the whole world. Love is colorful and making love poems are sure to make for a very splendid day. Making love is a sexual activity that expresses the love, passion, care and other strong feelings you have for another person. It is a beautiful and emotional experience that can bring two people closer and closer together. Making love while lying on my back with my husband on top is familiar, comfortable. It's the meat loaf and mashed potatoes of the sex manual .

Sex with my husband was different for me. He liked to be in charge, decide what positions we would be in, and there must be at least 100 positions in love making, Sex is a total gift of self. If you are saying something with your body you don't mean in your heart then there is an inherent conflict, and in that conflict everyone gets hurt. Sex can lower levels of "arthritic pain, whiplash pain and headache pain," according to some hormones that are released during sexual excitement and a orgasm can reduce pain thresholds.

Meat Loaf

This is two people experiencing their wholeness with each other. When men and women make love, you are much greater than the sum of our parts. Making love is complete and give the full experience of sexual intercourse. The first sentence here says 'how do they do it, the ones who make love without love. To make love without love is impossible, This is an act between two persons. Respect is the key to maintaining a good relationship.

Making love is physical, fun and involves emotions (feelings) not just lust. This type is a different story. The words themselves tell us that we're going to make something, we're going to create it or build it, or mix the ingredients to get something more or different than when we began.

Do Weight Watcher's Meals Really Help You Lose Weight?

Friday, November 26, 2010

Weight Watchers meals are all over the internet! Just one search and you'll get almost everything that you need from cookies, frozen meals to recipes and cookbooks. It could be a frantic search for a person does Weight Watchers but do they really work? Let us take a look at these meals closely.

Cooks.com caters resources for different recipes of Weight Watchers meals. It's indeed delectable to find pies, meat loaf, cookies, snickers and brownies on this site. Most of the steps are easy to follow and the ingredients are too easy to purchase. However, if you're going to browse each of them to look closely at the ingredients especially those of the Weight Watchers, some are actually surprisingly of high Glycemic Index (GI) like Grapenuts. They're actually carbohydrates that generate high fluctuations in our insulin levels and blood glucose. Thereby, it gives higher risks for heart disease and diabetes. It's not just an issue of whether these Weight Watchers meals work, after then it becomes more on the issue of health.

Another example's the Weight Watchers cookies. It contains brown sugar and carob chips. According to Calorie King, the plain carob contains 5 cal per gram or 153 cal per ounce. It also contains 8.9 grams of fat for every ounce and nearly 15 grams of sugar. Carob they say, have more sugar than chocolate. Natural brown sugar on the other hand contains 11 calories per 4 grams or 1 teaspoon. Compared to white sugar, brown sugar may be considered healthier but with 11 calories per 4 grams, this ingredient's not to be considered a good meal for a person who wants to avoid diabetes. It's indeed interesting how Weight Watchers meals try to substitute the most favored delicacies like chocolate. However, while looking closely at their substitutes it seems unbelievably convincing that they are healthy. Just consider the 8.9 grams of fats from carob chips - how's that for a diet food?

Weight Watchers meals are always accompanied by calculators and nutrient database. Even USDA knows that such nutrient databases is standard but are simply close estimates of the specific values. It's relative to the estimates of ones walk going to their neighbor's house. Apparently, mathematics and physics could always defend that good solutions come from estimated variables, but that's if all the other factors have specific values. In the Weight Watchers meals, all the computed fats, calories and sugar are simply estimates and from these estimated values are Weight Watchers meal references. Thus, it doesn't sound substantial. From estimates you beget estimates and they consider them good bases for their meals. Isn't that stupendous?

If one's to consider of its viability to be 100% healthy, chances are it isn't. While, if one is to consider if they give you the exact amount of fats, calories and sugar for every meal, the situation is improbable. Since, the question has been answered, try switching course. The "11 pounds for 9 days" is a good offer from Fat Loss for Idiots.
