If you are someone who likes Beef Jerky and other deli meats you are already paying too much for them at the store. The fact is that you can make Jerky and other tasty meats at home for much less cost.

Believe it or not it does not take a lot of work to produce your own deli meats at home if you have the right equipment. Many people use their own ovens to produce most of it. You also will not have to make lunchmeats everyday if you make enough once in awhile.

The types of meats you can make at home include different types of loafs like pickle loaf, olive loaf, bologna, different types of sausages, kielbasa, salami, summer sausage, pepperoni, different types of Jerky, snack sticks, just to name a few.

The equipment you will need to make your own meat is minimal. You will need a grinder to grind large amounts of meat and you will need the casings if you are making anything that is tubular like sausage. You will also need a kitchen oven or a smoker and a way to get the meat into the casings. A good idea is to buy a grinder because it can be used for many things and it has attachments that will help you stuff the casings.

Making meats at home is a lot of fun and children love jerky for snacks. You can find hundreds of recipes on the Internet for all types of homemade meats as well.

If you have looked at deli meats in the grocery store you know that the average Bologna can cost you about $5 for just a few slices. Beef Jerky can start out at $4 or $5 for a few ounces and get higher depending on the flavors that are added.

Many people already make homemade breads and they do canning of vegetables and fruits so making meats at home just adds to your savings. When you make meat at home you know what ingredients you are getting and you won't have as many fillers as with other meat products.

One of the best reasons to make meats at home is to save you money at the grocery store. Homemade meats are more flavorful; they are prepared with love and they last a long time. You can take advantage of sales in the grocery store and stock up on the meats you like. You can then turn them into deli meats that your entire family will love.
