Simple Turf and Turf Recipe - Slow Cook Chicken Thigh Meat and Deer Crock Pot Sure to Please Recipe

Thursday, October 6, 2011

Many crock-pot recipes are centered around one protein source (chicken, beef, fish, or other). One way, other than using lots of spices, is to add another protein. This recipe does just that and in doing so gives a wonderful mixture of flavors not available with just one. Wild deer meat (venison) has a unique flavor. It tastes a little like beef but has a "wild game" flavor. When combined with dark meat chicken, and slow cooked, you get a very tasty flavor mix. I would serve this with cooked brown rice and perhaps either a tossed salad of Cole slaw.

Ingredients

1 pound of cubed boneless deer meat
1 pound of chicken thigh meat, skinned boned, trimmed of fat, and cubed
3 large potatoes, cubed
1 large carrot, diced
1 green bell pepper, seeded and cut into strips
1 large onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, peeled and sliced thin
1 tsp dried thyme
salt and pepper to taste
1 can crushed tomatoes
1 cup chicken stock
3 tablespoons all purpose flour
4 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

1 - Use a meat pounder to beat the deer meat cubes
2 - Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil to a heated black iron skillet.
3 - Put in the carrot, bell pepper, onion and garlic, and sauté until crispy tender, then remove and set aside.
4 - Mix the salt, pepper, thyme and flour to a large bowl.
5 - Add the cubed deer meat and chicken and shake to coat well.
6 - In the same skillet, add the other 2 tablespoons of olive oil and sauté the deer meat and chicken until starting to brown.
7. Add the tomatoes with their juice and scrape up the browned bits on the skillet bottom, then dump all into the crock-pot.
8 - Add the potatoes, carrot, and chicken stock and mix well.
9 - Cook for 4 hours on high in a crock-pot.
Serve over cooked brown rice.

The Simple Burger You Would Love: Coconut Burger!

Friday, September 23, 2011

Burgers are just easy and lovely to eat!

Of course, there are food chains around, and burger houses to visit and munch and lusciously cut with your teeth! Kids and adults love burgers, and mothers can also cook them easily. There are lots of these recipes and cooking styles.

Let me share one recipe, if you have an abundant coconut resource. But then, don't cheat. They're not a substitute for meat or any main ingredient. Tell them exactly, it is made of grinded/ shredded coconut. Coco Burger is uniquely made from coconut!

Here's how:

Ingredients:

1 whole coconut meat (grinded or shredded)
Some flour or cornstarch to let the coconut stick to each other
6 slices of cream bread/ loaf slices
1 egg
A dash of salt and pepper

Procedure:

1. Put the coconut is a large mixing bowl.
2. Add one egg (yolk and white).
3. Wet (but not so wet) the slices of bread (dip into mineral/drinking water in a another bowl).
4. Add to coconut mixture. Mix well.
5. Add around 6 tablespoons of cornstarch (or flour). Check if they the burger mixture sticks together to form patties. If not add more fillers (flour or cornstarch).
6. Add some salt and pepper.
7. You can add herb and spices if you like.
8. Form into patties. Flatten and you can freeze or cook.
9. To cook, fry just like frying meat or fish burgers.
10. Serve with mustard or tomato catsup.
11. Make a sandwich with fresh tomatoes and cucumber.

How to make your bread/sandwich meal yummy: Spread mayonnaise, or sandwich spread, or butter on your bread as desired. Lay on your sandwich some vegetables like lettuce or cucumber. Add the burger patty. Add some cheese. Add fresh tomato and/or onion. Sprinkle some pepper or salt, as desired. Add some mustard or ketchup as desired.

After all the stuff on your bread, put another bread slice on top. Or you can you get a French bread, too. Of course, you can always make variations. Eat now!

Also, please don't forget to say grace before and/or after the meal. Thank you God for the food. Yum!

Coconut fruit is usually grown in tropical countries and around many places in the world. Its juice is good for stomach cleansing, but be sure to take something hot first in the morning. Its meat can be eaten raw and in its shell. They are thirst quenching, especially during summer and in beach parties.

Sometimes lychee fruit is good to add to coconut juice for more flavour or variation. Also, ice-cream can be eaten with the fruit, like our common banana and strawberries.

Happy cooking!

Simple Substitutions: How I Lost 55lbs

Sunday, June 5, 2011

The secret to my 53 lb. weight loss is simple. Simple substitutions that is. The key to long lasting weight loss is to lower your calorie intake. No better way to do that than to make small switches of everyday items. I have many favorites that I use.

Spray butter has to be my number one favorite substitution. It lets me save 40 calories and 5 fat grams. It can be used on toast with breakfast or in mashed potatoes with dinner. I have even used it when making fried apples. It has so many uses and has a great butter taste. That's why it's my favorite simple substitution.

Meat Loaf

Ground turkey meat is another great substitution. Use lean ground turkey instead of lean hamburger meat to save around 30 calories and 4 grams of fat. I use it in every recipe that calls for hamburger meat like meat loaf, spaghetti, and even burgers. I add some ranch powder and wow!

Egg substitutes are a great way to cut calories at breakfast. I save over 69 calories and 7 grams of fat. My family loves scrambled eggs and French toast with egg substitute.

Green tea is a nice simple substitution to soda or juices. It gives flavor without the calories. I add a little sugar substitute and I'm good to go. I have read that green tea can help the metabolism along and flush sodium from the body.

Speaking of sugar substitutes, I can't live without Ideal No Calorie Sweetener. I use it anywhere sugar is needed, like In my tea or coffee and when I cook. It was why my fried apples were so yummy! Ideal can be used in cooking safely. It is one of the sugar substitutes that is good for you. I love it!!

There are way too many simple substitutions to list here in this article. I have tons of favorites: fat free mayo, fat free ranch, baked instead of fried, and lower calorie soups to list a few. If you look hard enough a simple substitution can be found for almost any food. When you make more than one switch your calorie savings add up quickly so you don't have to give up your favorite foods.

Weight loss doesn't have to be hard or you don't need to feel starved. Making simple substitutions to my recipes and foods is how I lost my first 53lbs. I plan to keep it up and reach my goal weight. You can do this too!!

These Simple Foods Keep Blood Sugar Levels Low and Help Reverse Type 2 Diabetes!

Sunday, March 6, 2011

Wise food choices are critical to the control of diabetes type 2, but making these choices can sometimes be time consuming or confusing. Cutting through that confusion will take some research and planning, which will ultimately make eating healthy a stress free task.

Becoming A Lean Mean Fighting Machine

Meat Loaf

Lean meats are preferable for the person struggling with diabetes type 2 and if you like red meat, this may be discouraging. Instead of never eating a steak again however, try to simply incorporate more lean meats into your diet. Here are some tips for doing just that:

chicken is a good lean choice, just remove the skin turkey is another great lean meat and in its ground form can be substituted in many of your favorite dishes such as tacos, burgers, and even meat loaf. If you can't take an all turkey dish... go 50% ground turkey and 50% lean ground beef buffalo... not seen in many major grocery store chains but can often be purchased at your health store. Buffalo is similar in taste to beef but much leaner.

Going Raw

Vegetables are a wonderful source of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, especially in their raw form. Planning ahead can help you incorporate these tasty treats into your diet:

salad... yes it's rabbit food, but its also great for people. Keep a ready-made salad in your fridge at all times and serve on the side with every meal. Don't like to make salads? Grab a salad in a bag at your supermarket. veggies on the go... on the weekends slice up some veggies and put them in zip lock bags to take with you to work or the kid's ball game. All veggies are good but you might try carrot slices, celery sticks with a dab of peanut butter, or cucumber.

Snacking Sensations

Everyone needs a snack every now and then so don't give up snacks entirely, just choose them more wisely:

reach for a bowl of cereal, use skim milk and sweeten with honey instead of sugar. instead of a candy bar try snacking on cashews and almonds. apple slices are great for snacking and can be combined with a non-fat cheese. try an avocado with some non-fat cottage cheese on the side. It is delicious!

Eating healthy doesn't have to be dull and tasteless. Creativity and planning will not only take the boredom out of your meals but also eliminate the impulse eating that occurs when you have no plan. You can reverse type 2 diabetes by eating healthy foods, losing weight and keeping your blood sugar levels low.

Simple Strategies for Choosing a Winning Business Name (Plus, How to Avoid the Mistake I Made!)

Friday, February 11, 2011

When it comes to small business success, a name means everything. And coming up with the right name for your business is one of the most important decisions you'll make.

With your future on the line, plan on putting in just as much time and effort into creating a winning business name as you did when developing your business plan or choosing your target market. The right name will help to pique curiosity, attract your ideal customers and form an immediate emotional connection, while the wrong one can leave you and your business faltering.

Meat Loaf

Unfortunately, there's no magic recipe for picking a winning business name. But following the six hints below will definitely point you in the right direction.

1. Keep it short

Although there are always exceptions, the majority of great business names tend to be short, to the point and catchy. Some of the most successful businesses use simple, one-word names! Longer names are usually difficult to say and harder to handle in radio ads, on logos and signage.

If you do decide to go with a longer length, make sure its shortened version, which might be required for its web domain, is acceptable.

Also, keep in mind that people would much rather say, "I'm going to call USAA to update my insurance policy," than "I need to call the United Services Automobile Association." But be careful because even if you don't intend for your name to be shortened, the public will often do it for you. And not all abbreviations will work. ("I'm going to the FBI," has a whole different meaning than grabbing a bite to eat at Frank's Breakfast Inn. smiley) 2. Make it easy to spell, pronounce and remember

Put simply, if they can't easily pronounce your biz name, your customers will avoid saying it! And as a small business owner, you can't afford to miss out on free word-of-mouth advertising.

This is a lesson I've learned from experience.

Make sure the name sits well on your tongue and sounds good to your ear. And then test it out with others. They should be able to easily spell and correctly pronounce the name the first time they hear or see it.

3. Remember the meaning

Before you start thinking of a business name, define the qualities you want your business to be identified with, such as, strong, dependable or affordable. Also think about WHAT you do. The more meaning you put into your business name up front, the less time you'll spend explaining what you do or the value you provide.

For instance, names like Joe's Plumbing, Carol's Interior Design and Smith & Weston Architecture immediately communicate the type of service each of these businesses provide - even to a casual passerby. And when you stop to think about it, many of us end up calling companies are walking into stores simply because the name of the business clearly indicated that they have what we're looking for.

4. Create a positive visual and emotional connection

Generally speaking, when we hear or read something, our brains transmit this into an image. For example, what picture pops into your mind when you read "Bridal Boutique" versus "Dress Barn"? Based on your newly formed mental picture, where would you rather shop? Besides the visual, we also form an emotional connection, either good or bad. So when we see an ad about a day spa with words like "Retreat " or "Relaxation," we not only form a visual but also a connection of peace and tranquility.

5. Make it unique

Keeping in mind hints one through four above, it's also important to make your business name unique. Ensure other companies aren't already using something similar. It might be the difference of a word like having "apparel" instead of "clothing" at the end of a business name or simply having an "s" at the end of the title like, "Sparkle LLC" versus "Sparkles LLC" that makes the difference between two companies. Do your research. There are plenty free online services that allow you to check whether or not a business name is taken.

Also test out your top choices of names on your friends and family. They might surprise you and come up with a connotation that is completely different than what you intended.

6. Make sure you can get the website address

Before you decide on your award-winning business name and concern yourself with the details, make sure you can transfer your name into a website address as early as possible. Your domain name needs to match your business name as closely as possible, giving your potential and current customers one less thing they have to remember.

But what if you can get the domain name you want, only without the.com extension? Is it better to get the name and choose another extension such as, ".net" or ".biz"? Different experts say different things. My advice is to have a.com address as your primary URL, but to buy as many of the closely matched other domains as possible - and have them all point to your website.

If you do choose an alternative, make sure that you advertise your business with the full domain name, otherwise people will assume a ".com" extension and travel to the wrong place or worse yet, to your competitor's page.

At the end of the day, one of the most important factors is whether or not your ideal, targeted customers or clients will like and resonate with your business name. It's even more important than if you like it. So be sure to do your research, test out your choices and choose something that will help you grow your business.

Simple Dinner Ideas - Freezing Ahead is the Name of the Game

Tuesday, December 28, 2010

If it seems like you do not have enough time in the day to prepare a big fancy meal for your family every night but you still want them to have a healthy and well rounded dinner, it is time that you started thinking ahead about freezing some meals. Taking one day of the week that is simply devoted to cooking items and putting them in the freezer may seem like a daunting task, but you will be very pleased with yourself when you see your freezer stocked with delicious meals that only need to be defrosted and thrown in the oven, making a delicious meal in no time flat on a very busy night. These simple dinner ideas will satisfy your hunger and will ease the stress of not having enough time to prepare a dinner for your family.

Some quick and easy dinner ideas are the ones where the preparation takes very little time. Getting a large pack of ground beef and dividing into two parts will make 2 meatloaves. You can make two variations of meat loaf to get two completely different flavors. One loaf can be filled with bread crumbs and tomato sauce for a hearty change and the other can be filled with diced dried fruit and marmalade for a sweeter version of meat loaf. Preparing a couple of pasta sauces can be easy as well. Spaghetti sauce is delicious and can be tossed with any kind of pasta. You can also make a fresh pesto by combining basil leaves, pine nuts, Parmesan cheese and olive oil and blend until smooth. This pesto can be spread over fish or chicken or tossed with pasta. Freezing sauces in large gallon freezer bags can free up some room in your freezer as well. Freezing a large batch of macaroni and cheese is a tasty option that your children will love. Dividing the batch and mixing one of them with ground beef or fresh diced chicken will give a tasty variety to your meal.

When you use any of these simple dinner ideas, you are freeing up more time that you are able to spend with your family. Pairing these tasty dishes with a fresh, crisp salad and some steamed vegetables will give you a well rounded meal that was prepared in no time!

Make a simple, delicious Italian meal for sausage lovers!

Sunday, September 5, 2010

Image : http://www.flickr.com

These are the ingredients you need. Two pounds of Italian sausage, 2 onions, 4 red pepper, water, salt and pepper and a few bay leaves.

This delicious dish is dead on my family for a year Italian friend. I'm not Italian and never ate much Italian food growing up, but when my mother made this dish for our family, I loved. If you like sausage, once you taste this recipe sausage and peppers, are you going to prepare for your family andFriends often. When I take this dish for a potluck dinner, I always get rave reviews! If you work all day, you can prepare sausages, peppers and onions in the night and put everything in crockpot in the morning. When you get home, your house will smell wonderful, and dinner is ready!

The dinner menu is very simple, sausage and peppers, Italian green beans with mushrooms and a crusty loaf of white bread. You will be amazed at howsatisfying, filling and delicious meal is present. The peppers and green beans with vitamin C and antioxidants are downloaded or if evidence of garlic to promote a healthy, also helps to prevent cancer by stimulating the immune system and, of course, the sausage is delicious!

If you are buying, you must obtain a number of things for the meal. In the meat section, look for hot Italian sausage. The sausage must be the Italian one, and no otherType. If you do not know if you like hot sausage, you can use sweet or mild Italian sausage. Sometimes I use a hot book, and a pound of candy. Choose the type of sausage tastes of your family. The original recipe calls for all the sausages. You need a total of two books.

Then go to service products. Choose four or five large peppers Nice. My mother used the green, but you can also change the mix of red or orange, or evenfor more color. A green pepper is simply a mature red, yellow or orange. This mature peppers contain more nutrients and vitamins than their counterparts in green unripened. Now choose two large yellow onions, 2 ½ -3 pounds fresh green beans, a quart of fresh mushrooms and a clove of garlic. Finally, you can find a crust of bread, bread baking in Nice. If you do not have butter and onion powder for the home, these items sell for now.

When you come home, put yourFood in the refrigerator until ready to prepare meals. Beans, peppers, mushrooms and onions can be prepared in advance if you wish. Just wash and cut green beans at each end, and cut the core, seeds, and cut all the peppers cut into strips. Rinse the mushrooms lightly rinse with cold water, dirt and dry with paper towels. The onion slices. Keep all the vegetables separately and covered in refrigerator.

When ready to bake your ItalianFestivities will need to cut the sausage is cut into pieces about 1-1/4 inches long. All in a large frying pan without adding water or oil and cook long and slow. Place the sausages are cooked. It will take about an hour. While the sausages are jumping, cook the beans. Boil, steam or microwave. Add a little 'butter, salt and water in a microwave-proof container, whether it is microwave. Make sure the beans are tender but still crisp (about 8-10 minutes after boiling).Microwave ovens and steam varies from a few minutes or so watching.

Then cut 3 cloves of garlic, separate the bulb, and skin and a fine. Fry the garlic in a large frying pan and cook the mushrooms with about 1 ½ tablespoons of butter. Drain the beans, when you pan and add the cooked. The following season to taste with salt and pepper and onion powder (about ½ teaspoon of each spice is a good starting point). Heat the beans and court dressand keep warm over low heat while you finish the sausage and peppers.

If your sausages are browned and cooked, drain the pot of its excess fat and add the peppers and onion slices. There is also the season to enjoy a half to three quarters cup water, salt and pepper. Fry down about ½ hour (or until the peppers are tender but still crisp). You can not go wrong with the cover pan, if you want to keep splashing.

Finally, add the finishing touch to yourfabulous Italian Sausage and Peppers celebration. Set the table and pour your favorite drink. With a bread knife, cut the bread slices. Take butter from refrigerator to soften. Add the sausage and peppers and green beans and mushrooms on each plate. So sit back, relax, eat and enjoy the compliments!
