Recipe for Red Gravy

What You Need

9 slices cooked and crumbled pieces of bacon 1 large diced onion 2 cans diced tomatoes 28 ounce 1 cans tomato sauce 14 ounce 1 Tablespoon butter or margarine 1 teaspoon sugar Salt and pepper to taste

How to Make It

Cut bacon strips in half and cook in a large saucepan over a medium heat. Turn bacon occasionally to prevent burning. After cooking the fat out remove bacon and set aside to cool to the touch.

To the saucepan or skillet add the onion and stir until it is translucent in color, approximately 5 minutes.

Crumble cooled bacon into small pieces.

Add the butter or margarine, the crumbled bacon, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce and sugar. Stir to mix thoroughly while bringing to a boil.

Reduce heat and allow simmering for 30 to 40 minutes.
